Welcome to the research group of Dr Nacho Martin-Fabiani, based in the Department of Materials at Loughborough University, UK.
We are passionate about soft materials – polymers, liposomes, surfactants – and their application in liquid formulated products: paints, coatings, adhesives, inks, cosmetics, agricultural, and others. Our research activity covers various aspects of these systems. We study the fundamental science underpinning their formulation and application, investigate the addition of inorganic nanomaterials to impart antibacterial or abrasion resistant properties, develop methods to optimise product development, trial environmentally friendly formulation ingredients, and perform sustainability assessments.
Our work is multidisciplinary and we collaborate with colleagues across different fields: Chemistry, Physics, Microbiology, and various branches of Engineering.
We welcome applications from prospective researchers that want to join the group. If you wish to apply to a fellowship scheme, Dr Martin-Fabiani would be pleased to discuss such applications and can assist in writing one for research areas related to those of the group.
